ourmission
Our team mission is a simple one... we help the helpers. Since 2017 our team has fundraised and race in the Tunnel to Towers NYC 5k where we retrace the footsteps of fallen firefighter Stephen Siller. Our goal for this year, the 20th anniversary, is bigger than ever, at $20,000.
We have the privilege of racing & fundraising in honor of Lt. Glenn E. Wilkinson. Lt. Glenn E. Wilkinson was one of the 343 fire fighters who made the supreme sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Glenn Wilkinson was a lieutenant in charge of Engine Company 238 out of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. On September 11th he and his men were in the South Tower when he ordered them out of the building. Once outside he discovered that one of his men was missing, and so he went back inside to rescue him. Glenn never made it back out, but all his men survived.
He left behind his wife and 3 small children on that day. I never had the privilege of knowing Glenn, but my dad, called him a friend and teammate while playing football and lacrosse with him at Hofstra University. Glenn has often been remembered and talked about among our family, and our extended Hofstra family.
On September 26th our team is humbled to once again be able to support such an important cause in the name of such an honorable man.
I ask you... what did you do yesterday, and what are you going to do today to ensure that our fallen hero's & defenders families have a secure tomorrow?
